Hello! We are Adam and Francine. We began Race With Reason in 2013 to raise awareness for Crohn's disease and other illnesses. At the time Francine had battled with Crohn's from the age of 16. The following year at the end of 2014 Francine's health had declined to the point that surgery was necessary. She was 100 pounds and dying of malnutiriton. The diseased portion of her intestine was removed and she received an ostomy. 

A week after surgery she was diagnosed with stage 2 colorectal cancer. The pathologist had found a tumor in the resected portion of her colon. The good news was the tumor was out, the bad news was it had a positive margin on one side. This meant there were still cancer cells growing in her body and cancer treatment would be needed.

That first year of cancer treatment Francine received chemo, radiation, and several surgeries. We fought aggressively but the cancer continues to come back. We've battled the past 8 years with more surgeries, radiation once again, and most recently chemo for a second time.

At this point the cancer has metastasized and has progressed to stage 4. We have begun looking for more options and have found additional treatments outside what is paid for by insurance. It gives us hope but we need to raise funds to cover the cost. We know can't do this alone and need your help! By joining the Race With Reason family you' re helping Francine to fight!
